Indexing Service may cause some problem such as system freeze. We can use the following methods to disable it:

Method 1: Use a tool to disable it

Method 2: Manually disable Indexing Service

1. Click Start - Run, type in services.msc and press Enter.
2. Find the Indexing Service, double click and disable it.

Method 2: Run command to disable Indexing Service

Use Start - Run to run the following command:

sc config cisvc start= disabled

If any files could not be deleted, we can use unlocker tool to make it deletable:

ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/

It worked on my situations.

Problem: Each time we restart the computer or returning from Standby/Hibernate, we need to manually set “Use windows to configure my wireless network settings”.

Cause: Usually, either WZC controls or the installed software for the wireless card/adaptor controls. When the wireless card software controls, then the WZC control is disabled.

Solution:
1. Start - Run - services.msc
2. Check and start the following services

Wireless Zero Configuration
Wired AutoConfig (For XP SP3)

3. Start - Run - msconfig
4. Under Startup tab, uncheck any 3rd party wireless control application.
5. Under Service tab, uncheck any 3rd party wireless control service.

Disable Getting Started Welcome Screen - Logon

Start/Run/Regedit
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Right click in the right pane and select New, DWord value. Name it NoInternetOpenWith Double click the new
value and set it to 1. You’ll go straight to the Programs listing.

For a single user, while logged on to their desktop, go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer. Right click in the right pane
and select New, DWord value, name it InternetOpenWith and leave the value set to 0.
